At this annual fundraiser, the House will be offering for auction a unique lot of Hennessy•8, its exclusive legacy cognac, along with a one-of-a-kind companion sculpture signed by the internationally acclaimed artist Arik Levy.
This numbered lot, n°84/250, was set aside for amfAR in tribute to the year 1984, the first in which research grants were awarded by the AIDS Medical Foundation (AMF), amfAR’s predecessor, to support scientific and medical research on AIDS.Hennessy•8 was created to announce the arrival of Yann Fillioux’s nephew and successor, Renaud Fillioux de Gironde, as the eighth generation in a continuous line of Hennessy Master Blenders. It celebrates the shared passion and expertise that have defined Hennessy throughout its 250-year history.
Meticulously crafted over a span of five years, Hennessy•8 is composed of eight exceptional eaux-de-vie embodying the transmission of 7 generations of know-how, one of them has been chosen specially by Renaud Fillioux de Gironde to symbolize his taking up the torch as Master Blender. The Hennessy•8 decanter by Arik Levy was designed in homage to Hennessy’s history and values. An eight-ring decanter made of hand-blown Baccarat crystal, this design is the artist’s favorite of the eight variations he created for this exceptional cognac. The decanter comes in a distinctive chest made of oak staves sourced from La Sarrazine, Hennessy’s cooperage. Exclusively for amfAR, Arik Levy also created an accompanying display sculpture, a bold and moving masterpiece in its own right. To complete this ensemble, Hennessy will compose a made-to-measure lifestyle experience for the winning bidder celebrating French art de vivre and Hennessy’s heritage of savoir-faire. This special travel experience will take place in Paris and in Cognac in function of the winning bidder’s availability. Getty Images
